I spent Easter weekend in Galveston Island, Texas. I have only been to Austin and San Antonio, Texas and that was for the Purdue Alamo Bowl several years ago. My friend Gaye hosted my two other friends, Beth and Susan, and me for the weekend. I flew into Houston on Wednesday night and met my cousin, Barb and her husband, Scott, for dinner. It was so nice seeing them. Beth and Susan then joined us for a drink and we drove from Houston to Galveston. Gaye's house is a very cool A-frame near the beach.
We had a blast loading up the golf cart, preparing drinks and packing the cooler and heading to the beach. We had fun one night doing what all girls do, play Mystery Date board game! It was fun (and oh so politically incorrect) reminiscing and playing this game.
We then drove to The Strand, down by the wharf, walked around and shopped in the quaint little shops. It was sad to see some of the destruction still left over from Hurricane Ike but Gaye said the island is slowly coming back.
We had Easter sunrise services on the beach which was a first for me. It was a very cool way to celebrate Easter and they did two baptisms in the ocean. We then headed back to Gaye's and had Bellini's with our breakfast.
It was so nice to see my friends and do nothing but laugh, drink and have fun.
