MONON -- Fern O. Clerget Werner, 96, of Monon, died at 4:20 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Whispering Pines Rehabilitation Center, Monticello.
Born Aug. 6, 1911, in Monon Township, she was the daughter of the late Loyd and Gertrude Conn Thrasher. She was a 1929 graduate of Reynolds High School.
Her first marriage was to Morris Clerget on June 6, 1932, at Crown Point. He died in April 1967. Her second marriage was to Nathan Werner in 1970. He also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Werner was a homemaker, a farm wife, and she and her first husband farmed together until his death.
She was affiliated with Monon United Methodist Church and was a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and the outdoors.
Surviving are a daughter, Alene McKinley (husband: Gene) of Monon; and a son, Loyd Clerget (wife: Leatha) of Monticello.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello. Services at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2008, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Mr. Brad Burton will officiate services. Interment Bedford Cemetery. Surviving are a son-in-Law, Robert Fleck (wife: Melba) of Reynolds; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Fleck; a brother, Dean Thrasher; and infant sister, Ruth Thrasher. She enjoyed raising rabbits and chickens and spending time with her dog Boots.
